Hockey betting
Ice hockey is traditionally included in the list of the four most popular sports, along with football, basketball and tennis; recently, it has been overtaken by the rapidly growing sports of cricket and baseball, but there are no leagues comparable in popularity to the NHL. SpinBetter, recognising the scale of the multi-million army of hockey fans around the world, offers its customers the opportunity to bet on hockey matches, covering all the major leagues. In addition to a detailed line-up, we offer favourable odds and live video broadcasts of many matches.

Features of hockey betting on the Spinbetter website
Hockey betting has a number of advantages: it is a team sport where the strength of the opponents is relatively stable (there is no dependence on the health of the athlete, as in individual disciplines), but at the same time, hockey matches are much more dynamic than football matches, because more goals are scored in a shorter playing time. There is also a certain probability of a sensation to tickle your nerves, because a random puck can always fly in, and the underdog can always realise the majority.
SpinBetter offers a wide range of hockey betting options, so you can choose from a huge selection of available bets for any match. The most common markets are:
- Outcome - simply name the winner of the match; there is no need to guess the score.
- Total - predict whether there will be more or fewer goals scored than a certain number (you also choose this number yourself).
- Handicap - describe the advantage of one team over another, predicting that the favourite will win by at least two goals, or vice versa, the underdog may lose, but by no more than one goal.
- period bets - the same as above, but not for the whole match, but for a single period.
Main types of bets
The selection of markets for top hockey matches at SpinBetter sometimes reaches thousands of betting options per game – this is the second largest indicator after football. In fact, you can predict absolutely any aspect of the match, without limiting yourself to trivial decisions. However, most visitors prefer the main markets, and beginners should start with them. Let’s take a closer look at these options.
Outcomes (1X2), double chance
The most common bet in hockey is a bet on the outcome. This prediction is based on the player's confidence that one of the teams is stronger than the other - either a priori or on a specific day, for example, due to the absence of leaders or a difficult schedule for the leader. Although formally there are no draws in hockey, bets on a draw are also accepted - and win provided that the opponents reach the penalty shootout. By the same logic, you can bet on a double chance: this means that you are declaring that the team you are betting on will definitely not lose - it will either win in regular time or at least make it to the penalty shootout.
Totals and handicaps
In some matches, it is impossible to predict the winner, and in such situations, betting on the total may be the most appropriate option. The essence of this bet is to predict how many goals will be scored in the match, not the exact number, but whether it will be more or less than a certain value, usually a half number (more than 2.5 means at least 3). You can bet on the total for the match as a whole (how many goals the teams will score between them) or on the result of one of the opponents, and neither bet depends on the outcome, because sometimes one goal is enough to win, and sometimes a team loses despite scoring four goals.
Handicap bets are appropriate in two cases: either the favourite is too obvious, and therefore a simple bet on their victory does not provide the necessary excitement, or the underdog is expected to put up a fight. In the first case, the handicap allows you to bet on the underdog's defeat: if you bet that the favourite will win with a handicap of -2.5, this means a win if they defeat their opponent by any score, but with a difference of at least three goals. Naturally, such a scenario is slightly less likely than any victory, which is why the odds will be more attractive. If you believe in the underdog, bet on them with a positive handicap: for example, their victory with a handicap of 1.5 means that they will either lose by a minimum (one goal) or not lose at all.
Bets by period
By studying the teams' previous statistics in more detail, players can find interesting betting options that are not tied to the overall outcome of the match. Some teams start the match very briskly in an effort to quickly secure an advantage, but often lack either strength or bench depth at the end. Conversely, there are teams that consistently start cautiously and then pick up the pace as the match progresses. If you are prepared to look for such details in the statistical information, this can be another betting option in a situation where, for some reason, the customer does not consider it correct to predict the entire match. Alternatively, period bets can be combined to win even more: for example, bet on the home team to win in the first period and the away team to win in the third.
Live betting and its features
SpinBetter accepts not only pre-match bets, but also live bets on hockey - on all matches in our hockey line. This means that you can place a bet even when the game has already started, provided that there is still some intrigue left.
Users choose live bets for several reasons, but primarily because they allow them to base their decisions on the actual situation on the ice. Pre-match bets are always based on assumptions based on earlier information: you may not know that the team's leader will be absent today or that he is in very poor form. However, all this becomes obvious when the game is already underway and you are watching it (which you can do on our website or in the app), plus there is always the option to urgently bet on the underdog when they are in the majority. Another feature of live betting is the ability to make several consecutive predictions during a single game, but here it is very important to seize the moment before the odds react to the new situation.
